
Julie Macfarlane
Julie Macfarlane has a special interest in Orthodontics although she has an expertise in all Periodontology (gum health), Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics. Julie gained her Diploma in General Dental Practice (UK) in 1993 by examination through the Royal Collage of Surgeons (England).
Immediately after qualification, Julie completed Hospital posts in Oral Surgery and Orthodontics leading to a part time Clinical Assistant post in Orthodontics in a General Hospital for over 6 years. She opened her own practice in 1991, continuing her Professional Development by completing hands-on courses in Advanced Restorative Treatment.
In 2003, Julie was appointed on to the Fitness to Practice Panel at the General Dental Council, becoming a chairman in 2005. She has worked as an External Professional Assessor for the NHS Parliamentary Ombudsman for Patient
Complaints Resolution.
Julie is a member of the British Dental Association (BDA), the Faculty of General Practitioners (FGDP), the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) and the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). She has been an active member of the Local Dental Committee since 1991 working as Treasurer and then Secretary since 2000.
