Dentist reopening from 8th June

The Chief Dental Officer has now advised that dental practices may reopen from the 8th June 2020, so long as the appropriate PPE is in place for patient and staff safety. We are pleased to report that these measures are now in place at our practice and the staff training will be completed on 10th June.

UPDATE: Dentist During Lockdown

Thank you for your patience during this challenging period. All the team appreciates your support and good wishes. In line with government guidance, we are still unable to treat our patients in the usual way. However, a dentist continues to be available by phone every weekday between 10am and mid-day to offer advice. Over the weekend and bank holidays, there is a rota system for help and advice if you have a dental emergency. Patients who have extreme pain or infection, following a discussion with the dentist, can choose to be referred to an urgent care centre, which is equipped with the specialist PPE to protect both patient and staff, and which can provide a limited range of treatment to alleviate the problem. We are currently implementing various measures, so that, when we are allowed to resume treating our patients, everyone will be as safe as possible in our practice. A purpose built screen has now been installed at reception and we have made a significant investment in specialist equipment for each surgery to filter aerosols and virus particles. Once we have been given notification that we may resume active treatment we will have to follow a strict protocol to ensure that everyone is kept safe. In that event, we request that you use the hand sanitiser provided on entry to the building and ask you to cover your mouth and nose with a facial covering on entry and during any time you are in the communal areas of the practice.
